Ardmore 20 Year Old 1992 The Whiskyman

Today we will try the last of the Ardmore samples in our cabinet. This is another Indie botteling, by the Belgian Dominiek Bouckaert, for his recently launched label ‘The Whiskyman’. Dominiek is also the Belgian distributor of Malts of Scotland and Thosop whiskies. This one is an Ardmore from, you have guessed it, 1992.

I am pleasantly surprised with the soft, dry peat on the nose, that plays nicely with the barley and the wood. Soft citrus as well. Vanilla. A little oily with oyster juice. This might as well have been a sweet Coal Ila. Very clean and crispy.

On the palate, it is again silky soft. The peat is more expressive here, just like the oak (slight bitter touch), with mocha and caramel in the middle of the tongue. Feisty with a salty twist.

The finish is soft and sweet, which is something of the leitmotif of this Ardmore.

The nose was great, but the palate no less so. For those still in doubt: Ardmore 1992 is top whisky. A bottle will set you back about 85 EUR.
