An older bottling from Douglas Laing in their popular Old Particular series. BenRiach supplied the malt. Distilled in August 2008 and bottled in August 2018, so ten years old.

Blood oranges, nectarines, baked pears, overripe melon and apricots. That’s the nose in a nutshell. Add the smell of cedar wood and it’s complete.

Oily on the plate, quasi creamy in fact. Apricots again, but up front this time, followed by pears and melon. Citrus is very limited on the palate. I do get quite some spiciness in the guise of nutmeg, cloves and even some chili pepper. Hint of walnuts. Could this be a sherry cask?

The finish is medium long, softly seasoned and honeysweet with a bitter note.

A bit of an everyone’s friend malt that does not really stand out, but very affordable at the same time. Just 55 EUR and still available. What are you waiting for? Thx for the sample, Manny!
