I've not ventured into Lowland territory much before. The only ones I've tried previously are the entry-level Auchentoshans and Glenkinchie - both of which I was less than impressed with. This Bladnoch however is something else altogether. Very creamy on the nose with strong raspberry aromas - it kind of reminds of that red sticky juice I'd get on ice-creams in my childhood. Brings back fond memories :)

The palate continues with the same creamy and red fruit flavours. Rich viscous mouthfeel with a smooth satisfying finish. I love this whisky - far and away the best Lowlander I've tried and at just £40 a bottle this is an absolute bargain. Try it back to back with a Laphroaig or Ardbeg for a real contrast!

Try the 55% version. A guaranteed explosion of flavour.....and there's a 12 year old out now.

Just wanted to say thanks to you both (and Nozinan for your own review of the 55%)-- I just got my 11 & 12 sheep labels and am excited to try them! (Though that might happen until next year...)
