Single Malts of Scotland is one of the labels from Sukhinder Singh, the man behind the famous London based shop ‘The Whisky Exchange’. On 22 April 2008 he brought 576 bottles of this Clynelish Vintage 1992 (cask ref 1577/1637) to the market.

Ah, the nose on this is good. Mineral with the obligatory waxiness. Quite some lime, peach, almonds and honey. Some green apples. A nice trace of smoke, although in my opinion it might have been a little less subtle.

It offers a nice round and full mouthfeel and is fruity and very spicy. Loads of pepper. This is the good stuff. And the smokiness is a lot less subtle than on the nose. Lime and honey are the major players, but I also get some grapefruit. Very good indeed. And sturdy, despite being bottled at ‘only’ 46% ABV.

The finish is long and even more peppery. A true pepper beast.

This is a very nice Clynelish, that would probably be a monster at cask strength. But very much worth tracking down and affordable.
