This summer (2020) I've come accross this single malt, the first in Belgium (so they say), and here I bring this review to share it with you all.

My old man and I were staying at Het Anker Brewery, Mechelen (which also happens to host a hotel) when we found out they not only brew beer, but distill whisky: and nothing less than a single malt. So whisky tasting time it was! We bought a bottle and over the course of our four-night stay we tasted and tasted till it was gone. Jolly good times.

So, let's start the review: a super-clean golden to amber pour, with a complex and intense nose: red apple, rocket (you know, that bitter salad green), jalapeƱo pepper, steel... Then came all the sweet scents: brioche, cinnamon roll, cookies.

Mouth feels warm and boozy at first, but a nice level of acidity balances things off as you sip. Midpalate is sweet, not dry at all, mirroring the latter part of the nose. Medium to long finish, with delicate notes of bakery and tobacco.
