This 18 years old in the new(ish) Triple Cask Matured series from Macallan is the high end release. It matured on three types of casks: boubon casks and both American and European sherry seasoned casks. Just like the 15 years old, this is cut to 43%. My bottle was launched in 2018.

Yes, this is very aromatic indeed. Lovely mix of plums and fresh figs with vanilla custard and crème brûlée. Cake with eggnog, fresh nougat, pecan nuts and even a hint of dark beer. As some flower honey and a hint of woodsmoke and this can entertain you for at least fifteen minutes.

Silky soft on the palate. Sexy and clean with lots of fruity notes – oranges kick in quite fiercely – and nuts. A bit zesty and spicy, but perfectly balanced. The nougat returns in full force and transports me back to Montélimar in southern France, where I spent a summer holiday.

The medium long finish evolves from fruit to nuts and ends in a mildly drying note of freshly polished leather.

A very elegant Macallan. Impressive, in fact. But 200 EUR is not very friendly priced, especially if you compare it to the 15 years old which costs half that. Thank you, Timon, for the sample.
