Templeton Rye Caribbean Rum Cask Finish

I find Templeton Rye's whiskey very sweet in itself, so I can imagine that this Caribbean Rum Cask Finish will only add to that. We'll see!

On the nose I even think I just have a rum in the glass. Banana, coconut and sugar cane. Pineapple suddenly comes on strong and also some melon shines through here. But I don't find much of the rye whiskey itself. Like I said, it smells like a rum in my glass.

The body is surprisingly light and on the palate this is pleasantly sweet on tropical fruit. The fruit I already had on the nose, but banana and pineapple take the lead. If I didn't know any better, I would think I had a rum in my glass. Only the notes of corn on the BBQ and the intense spiciness hint that it is a rye whiskey , but that does not bother me at all. This is very tasty.

The finish is long, gently spicy and slightly drying. The wood gets the last word.

If I only go by taste – and that's how it should be, right? – I think this one is very good. But in his genre, namely rye whiskey, I think the rum totally dominates it. Who cares? It’s tasty!
